About the Department

Psychology is a branch of science that studies human behavior, mental structure and processes using scientific methods such as observation and experiment.

The aim of the Psychology Department at ISTUN is to produce graduates who are competent in their field, observe ethical standards in their work, have strong theoretical knowledge and methodologies, are creative and capable of conducting scientific research, can think critically and have adopted lifelong learning as a principle.

Academic Opportunities

Our students will take both theoretical and practical courses to acquire the necessary basic education in different subfields of psychology. In addition to mandatory courses, elective courses will also be offered to provide students with the necessary basic education in the subfield of psychology they wish to specialize in. Courses will be supported by modern educational equipment. Our students' research and practical skills will be developed through project courses and thesis work. Our students have the opportunity to double major and minor if they meet the necessary conditions.

Career Opportunities

Department graduates can work in various fields of psychology or interdisciplinary areas between different scientific branches with the title of "Psychologist". They can work in hospitals and clinical services in the field of mental health, rehabilitation centers, psychology research and application centers in universities, pre-school institutions, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of the Interior, the General Directorate of Security, various state institutions that make appointments through the KPSS exam such as the Social Services and Child Protection Agency. They can also work as school psychologists in primary and secondary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education or as counseling psychologists in psychological counseling departments of municipalities. They have the opportunity to work in human resources units, psychotechnical evaluation units and various advertising agencies. In addition, after completing graduate and doctoral programs in different fields of psychology, department graduates can specialize or work as academicians in universities.
